We provide bus passes to pregnant women and recent mothers in the asylum system to help them access support, such as travel to appointments with doctors and lawyers.

Refugee Sanctuary Scotland has been running its Bump and Baby Bus Pass programme since January 2019. The programme provides an 8-week bus pass to pregnant women and recent mothers in the asylum system to help them access support, such as travel to appointments with doctors and lawyers.

Eligibility & Criteria

If you are seeking asylum in Scotland and are pregnant or have recently had a baby, you can apply. The two 4-week bus passes can start up to seven weeks before or after the birth of your child. Applicants are eligible if they fulfil the following criteria:

  • They are in the asylum system
  • They are within 7 weeks of due birth date or actual birth date

Applications must be made by our partners, we are unable to accept direct applications from individuals.

Digital Bus Pass (M-ticket)

We have introduced digital, safe, contactless methods of support i.e., digital bus passes and contactless financial support. These methods have been welcomed by clients and partners. These methods mean that we can more efficiently and effectively support people.
