I am Senior Lecturer in Modern Languages at the University of St Andrews where I teach and research multilingual cultures involving Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, Yiddish, and different varieties of English. I have previously worked as a translator, and with English as a Second Language as a publisher and teacher. I was born in London and have always been inspired by the strong example of my grandma, a German Jewish refugee who was made welcome in the UK in the 1930s.
