I was born to an Irish mother and a Scottish father who was himself the son of Irish immigrants- refugees from the oppressive economic and religious environment of Northern Ireland.
This is part of what makes me passionate about getting involved in supporting people who face the same kind of prejudices that my parents and theirs encountered in the early part of the 20th century on arriving in Scotland.
A forty-year career in business has, I hope, given me some useful skills which I can bring to the Board as a Trustee to help move our organisation forward in helping people who have endured tremendous hardship in the countries they have been forced to flee.
